12 Week Year: Week 6 of 12

Week 6 already?! Time sure is flying fast.

If you’re new to my blog, I’m following the 12 Week Year to achieve my 2021 goals. Its objective is to shorten the year (52 weeks, 365 days) to 12 weeks to be able to do more. At first, you may think it’s counterintuitive, but when you understand the reason, you’ll realize it has a point. Think about Parkinson’s Law: work expands to fill the allotted time. The more time you have to finish a task, the longer it will take you. If you want a detailed explanation of the concept, you can read the full blog post here.

Achievements

I did almost everything that I should do, thank God for Saturday catch ups!

This week I:

  • Created new lead magnets – I’ll be posting them soon! Stay tuned.
  • Wrote a new draft, but I wasn’t able to refine it. 🙁
  • Wrote Week 6 post
  • Started a client avatar for my freelancing project

I wasn’t able to create…

  • 20 images for my freelancing Instagram account

Challenges & Solutions

Truth be told, in the past six weeks, the real challenge was working on several goals. I might have written that time management was one of the challenges, but maybe it’s not. The solution is simple: FOCUS. Focus on one goal until you reach it. I wonder why I never realized it until now.

Takeaways

It’s my second try at practicing Brian Moran’s 12 Week Year. I tried it last year, but all hell broke loose because of the pandemic. So far, everything is going well. I’m working on one personal goal which is to grow this blog. I feel more focused now that I limited the things I should be doing.

  1. I came across this at the *exact right time*! I’ve been feeling like I need to optimize my time management more, but your observation felt like you’re a fly on my wall – I have not been focused at all! I’ve mainly been distracted me emails and messages. I think I’ll be muting communications from 9-5 tomorrow so I can actually tick off everything on my to-do list!
